About Bakhuyzen Landscape Management

Bakhuyzen Landscape Management was established in 1963 through the aspirations of two young teenagers (Simon Bakhuyzen - 16, and Bert Bakhuyzen - 15).  Simon and Bert loved lawn work, and at the same time needed to earn money.  The first year had its challenges, but the rewards were there as well.  Although the desire for continued involvement in the business diminished for one of the brothers, the dream and devotion carried on for Bert.

From there a professional commitment was made by Bert to provide services to those that desire quality landscape management.  Today that commitment continues, but with greater capacities.  The market area is much broader, covering most of the Grand Rapids area and surrounding communities such as Grandville, Jenison, Hudsonville, Wyoming, Kentwood, East Grand Rapids, Zeeland and Holland.  The services offered to its customers have expanded from strictly lawn and shrub maintenance to include asphalt maintenance, and award winning landscaping.

What makes Bakhuyzen Landscape Management unique is the ability to provide a very broad range of landscape management services for our customers.  We are more of a one-stop place for our customers, with the ability to install lawns and landscaping, and then maintain them, including such things mowing, fertilization, pruning, snow plowing and sealcoating.  Our company is not only licensed and insured, but we also carry the necessary license to apply pesticides and handle nursery stock.

Bakhuyzen Landscape Management currently has the second generation involved in the company.  The Landscape Division is run by Rob Bakhuyzen (MSU Class of 1992 - Landscape Architecture degree), and the Landscape Management Division is run by Jeff Bakhuyzen (MSU Class of 1998 - Landscape Management degree).  With an excellent supporting staff, Bakhuyzen Landscape Management is prepared to take care of the needs of our customers.
